With school beginning, I’m always trying to look for quick and simple snacks that provide a nutritional punch. Here are five, simple and healthy snacks the kids will love!!

  1. DIY Popcorn Trail Mix

Kids already love popcorn and trail mix so why not blend the two together for a fun and playful snack. The trick is to make it yourself so it’s not loaded with sugary candy and excess sodium. Our family loves to throw in a variation of pistachios, almonds, cashews, and dried cranberries, but you can also use walnuts, raisins, pumpkin seeds, or dried apricots. You can even add some dark chocolate for a little fun, and antioxidant boost!

  1. Apple Fries and Dip

Call it fries and kids will love it, right? This is a favorite in our household. Just cut an apple into fries and let the kids dip it into their favorite yogurt or try making your own.


Try this simple and easy dip: mix plain Greek yogurt with some peanut butter and then drizzle with a little bit of honey. Delicious!!





  1. Turkey Apple Roll-up

Here is a quick and simple anytime snack, which can also be used in the kids lunch boxes. Use freshly cut deli turkey, cut a little thick, then place half a cheese in the middle with one to two thinly cut slices of apple on top, fold and, Viola!


  1. Ants on a Log

We love peanut butter in our house so we are always looking for a fun way to incorporate it. If you’re peanut sensitive you can switch to another nut butter like almond butter or sunflower butter. Just spread the nut butter of your choice on individual pieces of celery. You can eat it plain or add some nuts and seeds for a more nutrient dense snack.





  1. Mini Charcuterie board

Who doesn’t love a charcuterie board!! This is by far my favorite as it’s quick, simple, versatile, and you can save it for the next day. Just add your favorite veggies, cheeses, fruits, crackers, nuts, and healthy dips. Have fun with it!
