Sports

  • Baseball – Fairfax Baseball Club
  • Swim Lessons – NOR & Bakersfield City ($52/2wks); CSUB (2 or 4-week sessions, ages 3+); American Kids, Bakersfield Swim Academy; hire a private instructor and share the cost with one or more families
  • Soccer – begins July/Aug, several leagues varying in cost, NOR cheapest
  • Football – begins July/Aug, several leagues varying in cost, NOR cheapest
  • Junior Golf – for older kids, especially those interested in playing long-term
  • Tennis – Bakersfield Racquet Club
  • Golf/Swim/Tennis Camp – hosted at Seven Oaks
  • Gymnastics – American Kids hosts open gymnastics Wednesdays 1:30-3:00 (up to age 5, SW ONLY)

 

Library (check your branch calendar for schedules)

  • Lunch at the Library – June 5 – July 31, M-F, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Beale Auditorium, Children 2-18 free, adults $3 (activities during lunch hour)
  • Summer reading challenges
  • Weekly Carry-Out Crafts
  • Storytimes (try something new…bilingual, ASL!)
  • Clubs (Legos, Chess, etc.)

Vacation Bible School (Warmline army: add your church!)

 

Fun & Silly

  • Shaving cream painting party – pick up supplies from the dollar store, add food coloring for more fun, rinses off with a hose (to prevent staining, no clothes)!
  • Slip & Slide on vinyl shower curtains or use as craft drop cloths (Jess has extra!)
  • Backyard water park – sprinkler, kiddie pool, water table, buckets of water, water balloons
